This is the FINAL week of the season. The standings look like this:

6-5 (45) Social Assassins (Wendell’s, Norton)

Tiebreakers are as follows:
1. Overall win/loss record
2. Total Points
3. Head to Head win/loss record
4. Head to Head points

Bulls On Parade has the tiebreaker over us (2-0 vs us head to head).
We have the tiebreaker over Madmen (9-7 head to head points).

In the final week, we play the undefeated, first place team, who beat us 1-7 the first time around. We are AT their place (Gaff’s, Taunton).
#5 Madmen travels TO #3 Bulls On Parade. Bulls on Parade BEAT them 6-2 the first time around.

This is what we need to make the playoffs going into the final week:
1. Win. A win puts us in no matter what. It also would give us a shot at the #3 seed.
2. Madmen LOSS. A Madmen loss would give them 7 losses on the season and put us in.
3. If we LOSE, AND Madmen WIN, it comes down to total points.
a) If Madmen win in OT (4 points), we need 2.
b) If Madmen win 5-3, we need 3.
c) If Madmen win 6-2, we need 4 (OT loss).
d) If Madmen win 7-1, we need 4 (OT loss). *Madmen would take 3rd, we’d take 4th, and BoP would be out.
e) If Madmen win 8-0, we need 3. *Madmen would take 3rd, we’d take 4th, and BoP would be out.

Not really, there are a whole lot of third leg losses in those games. If the format weren't best of three of everything...

That is true. They beat us 7-1 the last time around, but we WON the FIRST leg in 4 of the 8 games. Need to find a way to take TWO somehow.

Yep. It came down to THIS. Let me start by saying we played great. Not AWESOME. Not SPECTACULAR. Not even the BEST we've ever played, but STILL GREAT. Unfortunately, though we won the first game on BOTH of the 501's, AND we went all 3 legs in 3 of the first 4 matches, we STILL ended up 0-4 after the team games. To make matters worse, in the first 501, we win the first, and have a shot to win the 2nd. We have 87 left. Nellie hits trip 19 to leave 30, then hits double 2 going at dbl 15 leaving 26. Without hesitation, he immediately shoots at dbl 14 (THINKING he's got 28 and not 26). He misses, we all yell to him that he shot at wrong #, but it doesn't matter because they take it out in very next turn. We then go 6 turns to get IN on leg 3 and ultimately lose. In the 2nd 501, Brian & Nemeskal WIN the first, then have THREE ROUNDS at dbl 20 for the WIN in leg 2 and lose. Leg 3 takes them FIVE rounds to get IN, and they STILL barely lose a close one. The 2nd Cricket match is ALSO an incredible one. It saw BOTH Nemeskal AND Eamon hitting HAT TRICKS, AND going to a 3rd leg that amassed almost 1600 combined points! EVERY throw seemed to be a 5 count or HIGHER, yet AGAIN we lose in 3. The next two 301 singles were absolute BLOWOUTS with Nellie getting SKUNKED by McGlaughlin in game 2 of the first 301 and Ron Estelle keeping his perfect 10-0 in tact vs Me in the 301 (as well as adding a high in of 112). That put us at 0-6, on the road, and deflated to say the least. We SUCK IT UP though, and NEVER SAY DIE, and Nemeskal and Brian SWEEP the singles crickets 4-0, giving us a 2-6 LOSS.

It all comes down to the Madmen from Mansfield vs the Bulls from Pawtucket. I call and text BOTH captains to find out the status. Turns out Madmen are UP 4-3 going into final game, and that game is TIED 1-1. If Madmen win 5-3, they take 4th place (by ONE POINT), if they go to OT with 4, EVEN if they WIN in OT, they end up TIED with us, and it comes down to the FOURTH tiebreaker, and WE take 4th place. Talk about your ADDED pressure! Not sure if they ultimately won or lost in OT, but I DO know it GOT there, so it looks like the Social Assassins have MADE the playoffs.
